Tampa’s Odorizzi has allowed two ERs or less in FOUR of his six starts TY…My free play is on the TB Rays at 9:05 ET.
The Angels swept Kansas City from April 25-27 but Friday’s 5-2 loss was the team’s FIFTH in seven games since knocking off the defending World Series champs. LA closed a 2-4 trip with 12 hits in Wednesday’s 7-3 win in Milwaukee but last night the Angels opened a six-game homestand with six singles, two doubles and only two runs scored. Friday started poorly for LA with the news that Garrett Richards is likely to be lost for the season. Richards needs surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow and now joins injured pitchers Andrew Heaney, C.J. Wilson and Tyler Skaggs.

Tampa Bay’s win last night was just its third in seven games but also its fourth in the last six games of this series. Jake Odorizzi (0-1, 3.12 ERA) takes the mound for the Rays, still searching for his first win of 2016. However, it should be noted that the 26-year-old righty has allowed two ERs or less in FOUR of his six previous starts (Tampa Bay is 3-3 in his starts this season). Odorizzi comes into this contest having allowed just nine hits and two ERs (one in each game) over 12 innings in his last two starts (1.50 ERA). Veteran Jered Weaver (3-1, 5.40 ERA) gets the ball for the Angels. He hopes to rebound from a disastrous start at Milwaukee this past Monday, when he rocked for seven ERs on 11 hits over five innings. Weaver has been hit or miss this season, allowing ONE run in two outings and FOUR or more in his other three. Weaver is 5-5 with a 3.81 ERA in 12 career starts against Tampa Bay (Angels are 6-6).
Expect another losing outcome for the injury-plagued Angels.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Washington Nationals
Prediction: Nationals -1.5 +125 odds (August 23rd 2015)

Washington cruised to a 6-1 win over the Brewers on Saturday and I’m expecting another easy victory on the diamond Sunday. Instead of laying big juice here with the Nationals, I think there’s more than enough value here to play the run line and call for them to win by at least 2 runs.
Taking the mound for Washington will be Jordan Zimmermann, who has been a completely different pitcher at home than on the road. Zimmermann has an ugly 4.67 ERA over 12 road starts, compared to a dominant 2.44 ERA over 13 home starts.
Zimmermann should have no problem out-performing Milwaukee’s Matt Garza, who is 5-13 with a 5.23 ERA and 1.469 WHIP in 22 starts. Garza has been even worse than that on the road, where he’s posted a 5.95 ERA and 1.576 WHIP in 10 starts.
Nationals are 35-8 in Zimmermann’s last 43 starts with a money line of -150 or more and have won these contest by an average score of 5.2 to 2.8 (+2.4). Take Washington -1.5!

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners
Betting Pick: Texas +123 odds (August 8th 2015)

At 4:10 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Texas Rangers over the Seattle Mariners. So which version of LHP Martin Perez will show up tonight in Seattle? Will it be the version that two starts ago gave up a whopping eight runs in one inning? Or will it be the Martin Perez who threw 8 1/3 near-perfect frames in his very next start (his most recent) allowing just one run on two hits? We’re going to bet on the latter because the one-inning melt down was against the hottest offense (at the time at least) in the Yankees. Perez is recovering from Tommy John surgery and tonight will be fifth start since coming back so we would expect the improvement shown last Sunday against the Giants to continue this afternoon, especially in a pitcher-friendly place like SafeCo Field and against a weak offense like the M’s. Seattle will send its own LH, rookie Mike Montgomery to the mound and after a very promising start which saw him go 3-2 with a 1.62 ERA (and two CGs) in the month of June, Montgomery regressed significantly last month, going 1-2 with a 5.88 ERA in five starts. He will have his hands full in his first career start vs. the Rangers who are 31-24 on the road this season and 8-3 in Perez’s last 11 road starts. Take Texas. As always, good luck…Al McMordie. And don’t miss my 3 Winners on Saturday, as we look to stay RED-HOT (170-118, + $30,115 since April 26 across all sports). We have both MLB + CFL on tap. Go get ’em.

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #586 Take Long Beach State over Hawaii (Thursday 5:30 pm) Doc’s Sports has picked up 100 units on the season and do not miss their Conference Tournament Game of the Year this weekend! The 49ers underachieved in the Big West this season but they get once last chance to make amends for that in the conference tournament in Anaheim, CA. The Beach also have revenge on their minds as away beat them by 19 points in the island in late February. But the Warriors are a much different team on the mainland and playing close to home will benefit Long Beach State in this game and allow them to cover this small number.
